Broken iPod

From IPodWizard.net Wiki

Does your iPod keep flashing the boot logo over and over again? Will your computer not recognize it? Does iTunes not recognize it? Is it just not working? If so, try this tutorial which will, hopefully, fix your iPod. It uses the HP Disk Format Tool, your iPod updater, and obviously, your iPod and USB Cable.

Note: This tutorial will not work on iPods with a higer capacity than 30GB because of a Windows limitation. So don't even try it on a 60GB, 40GB, or anything else over 30GB.

Broken iPod Tutorial

This tutorial should only be used if your iPod is severely broken, most other times a simple restore with iTunes will suffice.

  1. First, download the HP USB Disk Format Tool. Which can be found here.
  2. After downloading, open it up and select your iPod drive.
  3. After doing this, go to File System FAT32, enter your iPod’s name in the Volume Label. (Joe’s iPod, John’s iPod, Steve’s iPod, etc.)
  4. Put a check mark in Quick Format, but not one in create a DOS Startup disk.
  5. After doing this click Start, and wait for your iPod to be formatted.
  6. Then, open up your iPod Updater, and click restore.

If all has gone correctly, your iPod will now be back to normal!
