Joshua Hill, respected member of Chronic Dev, leaves the team, explaining that his contributions were not driven by cash

Joshua Hill, better known throughout the jailbreak community as Chronic Dev team member p0sixninja, has announced via Twitter that he has left the group. His announcement was accompanied by an offer to sell his iPhone 4 and the iBoot 0day exploit for $50. He hasn’t offered any real reasons for his departure.

Trying to prove a point during Defcon, Hill sold his iPhone and exploit for a fraction of its worth

Prior to leaving Defcon in Las Vegas, Hill made a series of tweets, asking if there was "Anyone in Vegas that wants to buy an iPhone for cheap," and that he would throw in the iBoot 0day exploit for free. The exploit is said to have been capable of jailbreaking iOS 6.0 across numerous iDevices including the next iPhone and 3rd gen Apple TV. Unfortunately, iBoot 0day appears to be an exploit which is patchable by Apple through use of a firmware update.

Speculation surrounding recent events hint at a deal with Apple, however, it is too early to make any confirmations

James Magahern, aka @buzzert, the apparently ex Apple employee, seems to have come to an agreement with Hill, who has given the exploit to an Apple programmer as opposed to the hands of the jailbreak community. This has made the situation even more complex, and no one seems to be commenting on the events which have unfolded. It is certain that we can expect a statement from Hill himself during JailbreakCon which will begin on September 29th.
