iTunes restore function not working
oh my GOD... its the amazing ZOMBIEPOD...

wtf... i tried restoring it the manual way, ie. formatting the drive by itself and THEN trying to restore. well it didnt work... I THOUGHT... i reinstalled itunes after formatting my ipod, and didnt touch the ipod since. but now, it has restored ITSELF... even though itunes said i needed to restore it, i didnt.

i have absolutely no idea how its possible... but it is.

iTunes recognizes it?
If so, update your ipod/restore with iTunes 7.0.1.
After that try modding with iPW.

Actually it's not that strange.
If the critical iPod files are missing, iTunes will usually recreate them as necessary.

that was exactly my problem, itunes wouldnt let me restore it because it wouldnt connect with the internet (really strange, because the itunes store DID connect with the internet)

if itunes can do that, then why the hell does it whine about "no internet connection" if i want to restore my ipod? :ermm:

and by the way, i tried if the zombie way of restoring my ipod helped me getting closer to modding it, but iPW still says no firmware found, and so does itunes, now wat the hell is wrong???

Ive been having similar problems. If your getting a 'resourcenot found' error when you try and update, that can be because iTunes isnt reading your iPod correctly. Check whether the data on your ipod screen is there (name, SN, capacity, FW etc). If any of those are N/A, disconnect, restart your iPod and reconnect. If you still get nothing, then something is bust and your gonna need to send it back to apple. Thats what I did today.

iTunes restore function not working
This is risky, so dont try it if you dont wanna.
Shut off ALL firewalls, (software and router if applicable), then try. If it works, Look at changing your firewall to allow iTunes to connect to their servers, which I expect must use a different port to the iTMS.
If it doesnt work, you have me completely stumped!! Goto an apple shop, or call their helpline, http://www.apple.com/support/ipod

Hope this helps.
