Rockbox Installer X
Introduction.
NB: This is an unofficial installer for the Rockbox iPod Port. Most of your possible questions should be answered in the FAQ. Rockbox Installer X was preceded by the Rockbox Installer, which is now a dead project. We do not support its use any more, as this installer is far more up to date and continually updated. It is interesting to note the popularity of the old project, which obtained 10,361 total views from versions 4-7.7. For that I would like to thank everybody who got involved, including users, bug reporters and my co-developer, Bjehsus. It would be great for the new version to go this good. The current developers of Rockbox Installer X are myself (Kreator666) and Bjehsus. Compatibility. This installer is coded in NSIS, and runs only on Windows 2000/XP/2003. It will install on Windows iPods; these models are currently supported:
Note well that Rockbox will not install on 1G iPods, 2G iPods, 2nd Generation Nano or 5.5G iPod Video models. You can use Rockbox, iPod Linux and the Apple firmware side by side if you wish, read the Readme for more information. Disclaimer. This installer is provided 'as-is', without any express or implied warranty. In no event will the authors be held liable for any damages arising from the use of this installer. This is an unofficial installer to be used at your own risk. I, nor Bjehsus, nor iPodWizard.net/Rockbox.org can hold responsibility over problems you come across using this, but we can offer you assistance in the form of Troubleshooting. Important: Read the Readme file before using the installer. It will help prevent any future problems or confusion. Change Log. The full change log is in the Readme document, this one will be only for a couple of versions at a time. v1.0.1: Minor release to fix problems. - Fixed daily build url problem. - Relocated uninstaller.exe to prevent a problem. v1.0: First release of Rockbox Installer X to the public. - Complete rewrite of the code into NSIS, along with complete source commenting. - Nice, new GUI. - Four installation options - Rockbox/Loader2/Custom bootloader, and/or Daily Build. - Solved the sysinfo problem that was experienced on v1.2 iPods (Nano/5G). - Added 3G iPod support. - Added Nano v1.2 support. - Uninstaller and all files needed to uninstall are now put on the iPod - portable. - No more of the ugly command prompt in the background. - Faster code base, a lot more reliable and compact. - Countless minor changes and features that come with the rewrite. - A HTML Readme document! Download. Thanks to free hosting provided by mace at Gabe&Co Hosting and Design, the Installer now has a website. Rockbox Installer X - Website You will find the file on the Downloads page. Final Notes and Thanks. This project would be no more if it were not for the continued support provided generously by mace of Gabe&Co hosting. http://www.gabeandco.info/ Feel free to comment in here or on our Guestbook. Yeah, just waiting on the changes to be made to ipodpatcher and ipod_fw for the 5.5G to work.
Dalonehunter Wrote:This didn't work for me. It seemed to be working perfect but then it gave this error "Download Failed: URL Parts Error. Aborting..." Got a solution for this?? ThxIt works fine for me, both on my 4G and when I change my sysinfo to trick the installer into thinking I have a 5G. Try again? BTW Bjehsus, no WGET ![]() I'll give you the source when I gather together all the plug-ins that I used that you'll need to compile... |

All that it does is call to download from:
http://www.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipodnano/rockbox.zip (For a nano, of course...) Click on that url and see if it works. |
