how easy is a format, i was reading on the forums here and it sounded a pain in the ass, converting to ntfs and then back to fat32, wasnt sure how to do that either, can you just format as you would a hard drive? i'm tryin to re-install itunes now see if it will work.

Yes, you format like an HDD, then resotre/update. If the updater will recognize it, you only will need to restore/

What Updater are you using, what is the date?

This may be becuase you already have the latest version (The Built in iTunes updater) installed. I have no solid answer for this though...
