Wink [5G/?] Colourize Theme
Ok, I'm just gonna rewrite this, since most of you who've downloaded the theme seem to know what it's about. Again, too many thanks to those that contributed to the ideas of this theme (most of which have been enhanced).

This release includes the NEW iPod updater (01-06-2006) version, as well as the original Nov. 2005 version as well. I've gone ahead, for those of you with the Radio accessory, and redone/colourized a lot of those icons as well. All of the original theme icons are still there, but have a couple of small fixes:

CHANGELOG:

Fixed an issue with the clock, where now icons should update immediately, instead of having to wait a minute for the minutehand, and an hour for the hour hand. Recolored so that the center dot is "BRIGHT" from 6 AM to 6 PM, and "DARK" from 6 PM to 6 AM. (Figured this out myself by toying around with the firmware.... We often wonder why there seem to be "duplicate" icons; this is why the center "dot" in the clock is this way... one for 6 AM to 6 PM, and the other vice-versa.)

Made a lot of the "now playing" icons (for audio, video, and playlists) "Silverized" instead of coloured, since the display for these will only show monochrome.

V-Card examples/samples now have a smiley instead of the dull shadow of a person standing there. It will show Yellow on the icon, but only show up as monochrome on the iPod. I've kept it yellow, due to the fact that the iPod monochromes it much better than any photo editing program I've tried (and I use several high-end ones).

The Parachute Game has parachutists and the tank enhanced... Tank is highly enhanced, and the parachutists should now be animated as they freefall without the chute open.

Reverted to original clock hands that are white (with black background)... for some reason, iPod will not accept all icons in the set as colorized (no worries, I haven't actually been anywhere in the darn thing to see those icons anyway...lol. The ones that aren't colourized show up as monochrome.... and for some reason, no matter what colour I try, the SAME ones show up that way every time. (Whenever someone gets to a screen that actually shows it, it should be consistent.)

Oh yeah, I'm thinking of using the whole "gradient" effect (i.e. title bar, progress/volume audio bar) for the Radio Frequency Bar, but it'll only show up if it's attached to the iPod, and I'm not about to go buy one just to see the color scheme. If anyone happens to have one, let me know if it will display the color scheme I've provided. If so, that means it should accept full-color range, and I can go ahead with the "gradient" addition soon. It's WAY to tedious work to do if it won't show the colors. But I'll be happy to make it if so.
Also, I've updated this so much, so here's the major changelogs from the original version (so you don't have to scroll through this forum any further to find my changes).

(From memory...)

-Clocks are colorized (all parts)
-Icons for repeat, shuffle, etc now fit the colour theme for audio screen
-Timer/Sleep Timer is colourized
-Records in place of Combination Lock on Lock Screen, and are animated with a record needle arm that blinks
-Texturized Screen Lock and Stopwatch Backgrounds
-Fixed pixelating issue on the Title Bar with Play/Pause/FF/Rew Icons
-Fixed gradient issues in Battery Charging status
-Enhanced Mario battery Charging "Sleep" mode
-Video Progress Bar now Outline Format instead of drab icon, and has been colourized, along with the vid progress/volume bar to match one another.... (shows up way better than factory firmware version)
-Sharpened the title bar to show the bricks better
-Brightened and Saturated many icons to make theme more vibrant
-Fixed Do Not Connect icon so that it is more saturated, and doesn't have "square" effect... much better fadeout effect
-Other "tiny" things....

Hope you like it.

Thumbs up
Looks cool. I really like the battery, (sorta Jamaican feel) and the blue and red shuffle/repeat things. Nice to see you like the alien attack too The funky play/pause etc. is nice as well.

Good work!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. There were a lot of those who contributed ideas and material for me to work with, so I salute them all!

This theme really works well with the menu icons (http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=5654). Now if we could just figure out how to "colourize" those icons, this would rock! (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge)

Thanks for the record compliment, but I have to give credit elsewhere for that idea. However, I am working on a record needle arm that will lay over top of the pictures while they spin. Early trials have proven somewhat successful, but the shading on the record itself is a bit tricky to work around. I had something that worked yesterday, but it wasn't quite up to par with the rest of the theme, so I'm going to give it a whirl today in my spare time. I'll post back with updates as I can. Until then, enjoy!

Okay, go ahead and re-download it...

Too sweet! I was able to completely redo the records into color and with a record needle arm attached! I think you'll be happy with it (at least, I hope.....)

I really like the battery, it almost has a gradient effect. I hope that's what you were looking for but it is really cool. But one thing I don't like is that the play, pause, fastforward, and rewind, look too pixelated. Is there any way you could fix that?

*Newest version can be retrieved from above link*

Ok, I reworked the icons a bit. It's pretty tricky, as there are a VERY limited amount of pixels to work with (especially with the theme)... I was able to shade the pause icon, and thicken the play/ff/rew a bit by reducing shadow and gradient coloring. Part of the issue is, of course, the ability for the iPod to show coloring in different screens. It's been postured, and I agree, that diff. parts of the firmware allow for diff. "abilities" to correctly show coloring. For instance, earlier today, when I posted update number 2, the video icons were completely colored improperly when loaded onto the iPod. The only changes I made were to the title bar icons, but all of a sudden, the video coloring was fine again.... hmm... dunno... would be interesting to see, though....

I've also noted spots where, it seems, that the iPod will "only" show icons in monochrome, no matter how much I try to colorize them. Someone noted earlier that the iPod seems to interpret colors differently (full on some screens, limited on others) and from all of my tests, that certainly seems to be true.

I hope that these help out. They certainly are better than before, but I don't know if there's honestly a whole lot more that I can do with them. They are bolder and thicker, which definitely seems to help. You can let me know what you think. Thanks for the comments.

BTW, I like your username, MikeVickRocks.... I live very near where he played college ball. I'm kinda partial to him myself. His brother hasn't fared quite as well in his shoes, but Mike says that his bro's way better than he was at that age, so who knows?

Later on,

Very good, it looks much better. I think this is one of the better themes for the 5G. (but not very many comments, I wonder why) But anyways, good job on the new images and keep up the good work.
