1.0.3 Firmware Update for 6G iPod/3G Nano
Apple has again released a new firmware update, this time for the flagship 6th generation iPod classic model and the latest generation of iPod nano (3rd generation).

Release notes again just state "bug fixes", but users have determined these changes thus far:
  • 6G iPod classic:
    • Cover Flow issues (specifically slow loading times).
    • "Spinning disk" issues (previously draining the battery on shut-down).
    • Various other small fixes and new mini-features such as a disconnecting progress bar, etc.
  • 3G iPod nano:
    • Clock issues.
    • Play count issues (specifically, where games affected song plays).

There seems to be a photos bug introduced with this update on the 6G classic - read this thread for a full description and fix.

As always, you can get this update through iTunes.

Sources: iLounge, Apple forums, user findings.

For the 3rd generation iPod, they also included the "clicker sound" update. You can now choose, like the previous iPod model, if you want the clicker sound to come out of the headphones, iPod speaker or both.

No, your right. It is called speakers. There is a tiny speaker on the bottom of the iPod ( Where you connect the USB cord ). The speaker is located in that hole. Try it yourself. Put the bottom of the iPod next to your ear, and move your finger on the scroll wheel.

Speaking of the clicker, Apple messed up, my iPod (and others I have found upon googling) only has Both and Off.. I like the clicker in the speaker

I know it's hard not to mess anything up when making an update, but it's really funny (and sad) when the exact feature they set out to fix has the reverse effect.
