Hi,
I just purchased the fourth generation Click Wheel. Once I received it the battery was dead. I have replaced it with a brand new battery. The ipod worked when I first replaced the battery the other day. Now that I have recharged the battery the ipod comes on, but won't do anything. It shows the playlist with a fully charged battery, but the click wheel won't work. A few times when I have turned the ipod back on and off I get a broken battery icon in the middle of the screen. I figured that meant it wasn't fully charged. I recharged the battery again and now I'm just getting the playlist again. Does my click wheel need to be replaced? I should have known better than to buy a used ipod on ebay. Please advise. I have spent hours reading through ipod tech support forums. I'm so frustrated. ![]() |

Moving the hold button back and forth will turn it on and the playlist shows. I have tried to reset it as stated above and still nothing.

I got my 5th gen off Ebay - The only thing opened in the box was the headphone package, the protective plastic film was still on it. Yeah, the one that says "Don't Steal Music" in about 20 different languages.....By the way, did I tell you I really like my avatar?

Yes I tried restoring the ipod. I also contacted the man I purchased it from. Of course, he said it worked fine. But by the time I had my new battery and reading all the ipod tech supports I could find to see what was going on it was already passed the 30 days so Paypal won't back me up now. The seller on ebay says he is struggling student who needs cash and all sales final. If it something I can't easily repair. . .I'll just hae to list it on ebay as a broken ipod.

Umm, if it won't work, check the cable on the inside of the ipod. You said you took it appart and replaced the battery, so you could have unplugged or partially unplugged the cable. make sure that the cable is seated properly in the connecter. if it is, i would try getting a new click wheel, or just selling it as broken
