Apple has joined the Khronos mobile phone industry consortium which aims to standardize mobile phone applications across the industry. Other members include mobile phone hardware giants Sony Ericsson and portable software heavy-weight Symbian.

By joining the group Apple has more or less indirectly confirmed one (or both) of two things: they are working on software for mobile phones and/or they are readying the release of the much anticipated iPhone.

The last time Apple joined a consortium of which it had no existing ties with was when they joined BAPCo, a Windows benchmarking consortium; 9 days later Boot Camp appeared. With Apple's WWDC on the horizon, 6 days from now, will it be that much of a surprise if an iPhone is launched?

Speaking of the iPhone, a video ad has appeared on YouTube... which is obviously a user/fan created fake but cool none the less.

I hope there is an iPhone, the rokr was pure bull****, i'm positive apple will do a better job

it better be nice, if we get some ugly phone like tyhe rokr with some crappy ass versioon of itunes with a 100 song limit ???? :dry:

Anyway, I bet it will be classy in normal Apple fare.

heres what i think will happen. Apple will realise a phone. But, they will realise other devices for phones. with their software bundled. Somethign along these lines, probasbly not the same thing. but close.
this would explain the touch screen patents. their deviecs would need to run on PDA and stuff

I dont know if that made any sence, I had to wkae up early. ugggh

Looks fake to me - Photoshop created image on an LCD and then they took a picture of it - no metadata or anything... not that ingenious if you ask me.

I do like the name!

No kidding. I have US Cellular (CDMA) and have been wanting a new phone for a looong time. But...there is hardly any good CMDA phones. I wish I had a different carrier...!
