How to add Unicode characters in to Chicago Font
I played with this for a while but still could not fiigure it out.
I want to add some Unicode Characters in to the Chicago Font so that I can display native language characters in my native language which is not a standard language available in the iPod. The unicode characters I would like to add are U+0D80-0DFF (or at least a subset of them). Did some experimenting with chicago font bitmap by replacing pixel position across from 2332-2715 with the characters I want. However I really could not comprehend the relationship of various indexes shown in iPodWizard. Basically here is what I have done so far. A. Selected index 28 (for my 4G monochrome) B. Load the edited bitmap (using load bitmap button) C. Arbitrarily chose index 22 from section titled Unicode Groups (item 2 on the attached screen shot) D. Entered the starting Unicode and number of characters (31). The message appeared that index 579 to 609 will be used in the Character Mapping section (item 3 in the screenshot) E. Now the new Unicode character appears on the pull down menu on the right hand side (see scheenshot). F. If I check the pull down menu under Character Mapping, I see only up to 579 (nothing beyond). Questions: 1. What is the meaning of Unicode Group: Index ? Is it related to an index assigned to a particular character set by Unicode.org 2. How do I make IPW to display more index numbers (579 and beyond) in the pull down menu 3. What is the relationship of the two indexs under the Character Mapping. The way I understood was that the second index defines the pixel position information about the character. But question is why do you need another index. 4. I tried putting some values as shown for the Characater Postions (item 3 in screenshot). But they do not seem to get saved. If I save metrics and load again my input is lost. Appreciate if someone could explain how to make this work. The closest I saw in the forums was : http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread...highlight=font But that did not help to answer the questions that I have. thanks jk Last edited by jk2006; 07-15-2006 at 12:46 PM.. |
