I have a bunch of old Ipods 20 gb with picture capability. My question is can I completely delete the firmware on those ipods to use them like a flash drive. I have a Kenwood DVD player in my truck, it plays the movies and videos off my new iPod Classic but is not compatable with the older ones. The deck doesn't recognize it, I'm assuming due to the firmware. I just want the whole thing blank like a thumb flash drive that I can plug into the deck's USB
Thanks in advance. |

try copying all the data from your classic over like from my computer and see if that works my idea is that the music isn't under the right location

Ipod to thumb drive
I've done that. My deck will recognize folders or just un catergorized mp3s in a flash drive or thumb drive. So what I did was hook my ipod up to the computer, went into the ipod drive through my computer and deleted everything. Then I copied some mp3s onto the (presumably) blank ipod. The deck using the cord from ipod to usb, to usb in on the deck. The deck simply won't pick up anything.
I am guessing that the firmware that always stays with the ipod is telling the deck that this is not a flash drive but something else. I am hoping if I can delete the firmware I may be left with a raw 20gb flash drive for mp3s Thank you for responding. |

I thought the same rules of removing firmware would apply to any ipod.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try to get into a thread that is more knowledegable. |
