Shuffle not recognized/wont play
my problem is kinda like a mix of other peoples on here. so i figured it may be a different problem, thus new thread
anyways, i have had my ipod for about 7 months, or so. its really good condition, and all of the sudden it wouldnt play. i dont remember the details exactly ( as this happened a month or two back ), and i have been too lazy to fix it. i did all the basic things turn on off, check if on hold, and battery. but it still wont work so when i plug it into ANY usb, it is not recognized by itunes<and by that i mean, it doesnt show up. and there >, at the time, i had the lastest updater, and version of itunes. so when i turn it on, either shuffle or regular play, the normal green light comes on as expected. there is no music though. and when i click the play button, it doesnt play. it flashes green, orange, green orange a few times. i checked if its on hold. so i held the play, and it goes on hold. then i held it again and it goes back to normal. the battery indicator on the back shows green, and when i clcik play ( and it does the green orange thing ), the battery indicator flashed green and orange too. what do i do!?!?! another thing i just remembered, when i plug the shuffle in, it makes the ding dong ring (windows, when it recognizes somethings plug into usb. like pluging the mouse in) and it charges normally (battery indicator flashes orange as does the front.) edit- and when i check my computer, it shows the shuffle as a removeable disk (H .and also, when i try to open the removeable **** (H , it aske me to insert a disk into drive (H![]() and if i take apart the ipod shuffle <openeing the bottom>, does it void my warranty? THANKS FOR THE HELP/!!!!! :sweatingb Last edited by Lawl@j0o; 07-27-2006 at 05:53 PM.. |

Dont Open It!
http://h1.ripway.com/magician13134/DriveKey.zip dOWNLOAD That, Choose the drive ( yours being H choose QUICK FORMAT and press Go / format ( or whatever). Use Apples official (latest) updater and choose restore ( once the HP USB Tool has finished, you should get confirmation) This should work, although you WILL Lose all data on the iPod. |

I don't know how well it'll work, but you can always try command prompt. Hit Start\Run. And then type in cmd. At that menu, type this: format H
FS:FAT32. That might not be exactly the right command, but it should be close. After formatting (should be successful) run either the iPod Updater or the HP USB Tool and then the iPod Updater (not really needed, but if you want to run both). Hope it helps!Edit: Yeah, just tried on my USB Disk, and that's the right command. After typing that command, it will say "Insert New Disk for Drive H:" and that just means it wants you to hit enter. After formatting process (may take quite some time), it will ask you to "Enter Disk Label - Under 11 Characters." And, you do just that. (e.g. John's iPod, miPod, iPod, etc.). This is somewhat of a last resort, and I'm not sure it will work, but I hope it does. Good luck! Last edited by mikevickrocks; 07-28-2006 at 11:03 AM.. |

Oh, just type some the name of your iPod then. That should get you to the format process.
